Worplesdon has a rounded, heavy crown, is long-lived and will eventually grow to 25 metres. The deep-lobed leaves are a light green when they unfurl in spring, changing to a glossy dark green over the summer, before finally turning brilliant shades of red, orange and yellow for a stunning autumn show. Produces small, bright green flowers on slender stalks from March to April and clusters of large, pendulous, woody-brown, spherical fruit capsules during the autumn. Corky, fissured bark creates yet more interest in the winter months.
