Our Hawthorn Tree Gift has dense, green leaves and fragrant, white blossom in spring. As a symbol of love, protection, and marriage in Celtic mythology, our Hawthorn sapling is a superb wedding or anniversary gift. The Ancient Celts often referred to the Hawthorn as the ‘Marriage Tree’. It was once thought that any site which grows Hawthorn and Blackthorn Trees is enchanted.
Clusters of fragrant, white blossom burst through in May, giving the nickname the Maythorn Tree. This is followed soon after by bountiful bunches of dark red berries ready to be picked in autumn. Hawthorn berries can be used to make wine or jam, making this a great culinary gift for occasions in autumn.
Hawthorn saplings become great hedge plants and are native to Britain. When you order our Hawthorn Tree, one is handpicked from our nursery and beautifully gift-wrapped in a hessian bag.
Hardy in the severest European continental climates including exposed upland locations in the UK.
