Tree2mydoor celebrating National Tree Week

National Tree Week is one of our favourite times of the year for two reasons. As the UK’s largest tree celebration returns from 22nd to 30th November, Tree2mydoor marks its 22nd birthday. That’s 22 years of helping people across the UK send meaningful tree gifts, quietly planting a greener future one gift at a time.

Why National Tree Week matters

Organised by the Tree Council, this annual event marks the start of the winter tree planting season. It’s a call to action for communities, families and organisations to get planting and to reconnect with the living trees that support our ecosystems, our wellbeing, and our shared future.

Our woodlands need us more than ever

The latest State of the UK’s Woods and Trees report from the Woodland Trust shows there’s still urgent work to do. Woodland cover in the UK now stands at just 13.5%, which equates to 3.28 million hectares, one of the lowest proportions in all of Europe.

Despite more woodland being planted, our native woods remain fragile. Biodiversity is declining: woodland butterflies have dropped by 47% since 1990, and woodland birds by 37% since 1970. New and existing threats continue to make our woodlands vulnerable.

Among these threats are pests and diseases, with 121 species now affecting UK trees. Ash dieback, caused by the fungus Hymenoscyphus fraxineus, could kill up to 80% of ash trees. Oak processionary moth caterpillars strip leaves from native oaks and pose health risks to humans. The cost of just six of these pests is estimated at £920 million each year.

Our small part in a big picture

Since 2003, Tree2mydoor has helped people send over 500,000 trees and plants as gifts. Each one planted in a garden, on a patio, or in a shared green space adds to a quiet movement of change. The small, meaningful act of a crab apple tree gift shared in love, or a rowan tree gift planted in remembrance, have a true lasting impact.

We offer a wide range of native tree gifts, each with its own meaning and connection to our landscapes which offer a sustainable way to show how much you care. Every order is backed by our MyTree™ care guarantee and delivered with sustainable packaging, ready to be part of something bigger.

How you can get involved

If you’re looking to get involved this year, why not visit the Tree Council’s National Tree Week page to find local planting events near you. Use #NationalTreeWeek to share your story on social media and encourage others to do the same.

For businesses, our corporate tree gifts help you mark milestones or events with living gifts that support sustainability goals and leave a legacy of growth.

Thank you for growing with us

As we celebrate our 22nd birthday, we’re reminded that change doesn’t have to be loud to be meaningful. Every tree planted is a promise, to the future, to the planet, and to each other. Happy National Tree Week, from all of us at Tree2mydoor.
