Chestnuts roasting on an open fire... There is something special about the smell of roast chestnuts and this Regal sweet chestnut tree certainly gives a gift of the wow factor. One of the smaller sweet chestnut trees, the Regal is suitable for a larger garden and is virtually maintenance free.

It is a good heavy cropper although it does tend to do better in a sunny spot in the garden and is more suited to the south of the UK. Harvest the nuts once they have fallen onto the ground, remove the prickly outer case and you will find smooth brown chestnuts all ready for roasting or making into a good old stuffing.
