The Compost Composition
oozing with worms and food for my soil
my love for you grew (without much toil)
You are my best friend, my gardening buddy
and you don't judge me when i'm all muddy
When people walk past and admire my display
full of bees and butterflies (no need to spray)
They smile and they ask what is the secret of mine
and I smile back and say its poo turned divine!
You hold the key to my beautiful flowers
all I do is give you old veggies, weeds (and wee showers)
then out from your soul grows the magic i need
to make my garden bloom without adding feed.
Oh Compost, you are my heart and my soul
always added to the bottom of my planting hole
You are the giver of life, and I will always love you
and I promise to give you all of our rabbit poo.

Congratulations to all other entrants to have a poem published.
Love has found me
Love has found me,
Made me hungry for it's taste,
Shuddering humble in it's gaze,
Love has found me.
Let me hold you,
Keep you safe and warm,
Keep you safe from harm,
As I hold you.
Our time is precious,
A jewel sacred in your hand,
From it I carve a wedding band,
Our time is precious.
The rhythm of our rhyme,
Love can find, love can find,
Command the beating of a heart,
Love draws as distance parts.

My Beauty
The night scattered my lover and
the stars like confetti,
beauty caught
her, autumn winds brought the last
embers from the summer sun.
Nature
tests it's brush with a shade from her
auburn hair
making the tangerine mist declare
a different hue.
My dearest's eyes are painted
into the windows of the night
previewing
her ravishing gaze until it becomes a
satellite
shared with the world then raised
to the stars.
Winter takes her symmetry as
her eyes shimmer through his mask
reaching
summer who pines for a landscape redefined,
but fingers cannot reach flakes of snow,
winter
sings it's frosty climes as my beloved climbs beauty's
vine.
The soft winds of spring stroke the vine to reveal her grace,
four seasons construct a palace,
in the single pane she is a blend of each-colors merge,
snow floats on the yellow tides of summer.
My suitor becomes a fifth season, guide to five winds that blow against my heart.

Love is in the air.....
My heart flutters when he’s there.
On the day we met I knew
He was a perfect match come true.
He’s always smiling, always fair,
When I need him, he’s always there.
These words of love are sincere,
In my heart he is very dear
Flowers, meals, each romantic date;
Precious memories with my soul mate.
Now thirty years have gone by
Our precious love will never die.

Blushing Roses
Love is sweet, Love is blind
Love can make us two of a kind
Blushing the colour of pink roses
You, my beloved are the closest
Lover, companion, confidant
My one and only pièce de résistance.

My World
If all the blossoms on a tree fell and smelt like roses
Like the daffodils bloom in spring time
Like the freshest hand-picked posies
No sweeter scent no sweater sight
Can compare to you
On any night
You’re my evergreen love
My wonder sent from above
My favourite flower
Every single day
Every single hour
This is my way to say I love you
There’s nothing on heaven and earth above you
So it fills me with pride that you are my girl
And I get to share with you this wonderful world

A Valentine Sonnet
Great crested grebes and delicate sea horses,
Form, with their bodies, hearts, when they do court;
What shapes we humans make, my discourse is,
When we entwine and amorously sport.
I see not hearts, but one loose vivid liver;
Or, yet, two kidneys puce upon a slab;
Or there, I spy the prostate’s painful shiver,
And here, a bladder nestling in the flab.
And there, the tarred wreck of a smoker’s lung,
And hark, note here, the colon’s puckered course.
And yet the whole is sweet, from toe to tongue,
Till amputation comes and brings divorce.
Yet Love still spices our old meat with darts
And makes a worthy feast of these, our hearts.

WE MET OVER COFFEE
WE MET OVER COFFEE,
ON VALENTINES - 'TIS TRUE,
THE CAFE WAS FULL
SO I SAT BESIDE YOU.
YOU SMILED AS YOU MOVED,
TO MAKE ROOM FOR ONE MORE,
AND I FELT CUPID'S ARROW
PIERCE ME TO THE CORE.
YOUR ESPRESSO WAS STRONG,
IT MATCHED YOUR PHYSIQUE,
AND YOU CHOSE A RED HEART
AS YOUR CHOCOLATE TREAT.
MY CAPPUCCINO WAS HOT,
THE AIR BETWEEN US - STEAMING.
AND WE FOUND OURSELVES TALKING
ABOUT HOW WE WERE FEELING.
NOW SOME YEARS HAVE PASSED
AND WE HOPE TO GET WED,
BUT, BEFORE WE MOVE FORWARD,
SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE SAID.
HEARTS ARE LIKE DIAMONDS -
- TRULY PRECIOUS THINGS
AND, IF MINE YOU SHOULD BREAK -
(I'M KEEPING THE RINGS)

A Poem For My Anti Valentine
Let me be clear before I begin
A Valentine’s Day verse this is not, please rest assured
Save your blushes, silence your tuts,
For flowers, chocolate, hearts and cards I know you think absurd
So without chutzpah, without sounding trite
I offer you these words
Not a teddy, rose nor cupid in sight.
Today’s the day for all love birds to sing their song
Today by decree we have to be romantic
With the weight of expectation and the fear of disappointment
I was being pedantic
Lipstick kisses, hearts of felt, cuddly toys
A riot of red on red
Cute confections, a day to make up for a year of love unsaid
So silence the radio, cover the billboards, kill the advertising furore
For I know already, all that you abhor
But know this, in my heart you shine
My dearest love, be my anti Valentine.
