Wow, the response that we had to this year’s valentine’s poetry competition was quite simply astonishing. In the past 6 years that we at Tree2mydoor have been running our annual valentines poetry competition, we’ve never seen anything like it...this year we have seen a huge number of responses.
Content-wise, this year we’ve had it all too; everything from soppy romance to cheeky innuendo, serious wordsmiths to XXX rated smut (far too inappropriate for even publishing on the website). Some have been better and some worse hehe, but we have loved every single one of them. I’d just like to give a massive shout out to all who took the time to write a poem and enter it in our competition, it’s so great to see so many taking part and spreading the tree2mydoor love. Also I can’t forget to give a warm thank you to those of you who took the time to vote on your favourite; you made deciding the winner very tough this year.
So without further ado, let me introduce to you the winner of this year’s competition. Please step forward Carole Littlehales.
Congratulations Carole, well done! You are now the esteemed winner – elegant wordsmith – all round champion of Tree2mydoor’s Valentine’s Day Poetry Competition 2011 and the proud owner of £100 in Tree2mydoor gift vouchers.
And in case you haven’t seen Carole’s poem, here it is in all its glory:
On our 1st Valentine's day you gave me a rose
But alas the smell got right up my nose
A chocolate heart for my 2nd Valentine
Supposed to have my name on but they hadn't iced mine!
For our 3rd Vally day ooh what did we do?
Nothing cos you spent it in bed with man flu
For our 4th Valentine you took me away
But the weather was awful, it rained all day
For our 5th Vally day we didn't do nowt
For our 6th Vally day we had a meal out
Our 7th and our 8th we spent with our child
The 9th and the 10th I recall were quite wild
Of 14th February I give a mixed review
But after all these years I still love you
So forget all the others let's get down and dirty
As this year is Valentine's day Number 30!
We hope that you really enjoy your £100 tree2mydoor voucher, we’re sure that you will find something that you love from our range that can grow with you through the years. Whether it’s an orange tree or an English oak tree we hope you get the tree you want.
Once again, thank you so much to all who entered. We will definitely by running the valentines poetry competition next year and can’t wait for you to entertain us for one more year with some valentines fun.
