In light of the heavy snow that is expected over the next couple of days, here are a couple of quick tips for looking after your tree.
- Isolated trees need extra protection if they are not surrounded by other. Give isolated trees extra shelter or cover the trees with burlap or bubble wrap to protect them from the cold weather.
- If the branches of your tree are heavily covered in snow, just shake off the excess to avoid the branches being damaged by the weight. This is especially important for young trees as you don’t want the branches to become disfigured or worse have the branches snap.
- Heavy snow on the roof of your greenhouse will not let any light in, especially if it lasts for a long time your trees and plants won’t get any light and will suffer. It would be a good idea to make sure you sweep the snow off the roof of your green house.
Snow can actually act as an insulator, protecting plants from the cold and frost. Yet you need to be careful as too much snow can damage the branches of the trees. Really heavy snow fall can break branches so be careful, but you should be ok :
