Apricots have been around for almost 4000 years and are originally native to China. The trees have an abundance of showy early spring blossom that's usually pink or white and it comes into bloom before the leaves start to bud. As its a self-fruiting variety this means you don't need more than one tree to produce fruit.
Fruits will be ready for the picking around late July and are fabulous for making tasty jams and preserves. Not only do they taste amazing but they're nutrient-rich as well, a fantastic source of vitamin A and beta-carotene. The antioxidants in apricots are known for getting rid of free radicals in the body, which is great news for our skin!
Our Aprigold tree has been grown on a dwarfing rootstock and will only grow around 2m in height meaning it will stay nice and compact, ideal for medium sized gardens. It will stay a compact and manageable size, perfect for growing in a container on deckings and patios. A great gift idea to a lucky couple celebrating their golden wedding anniversary.
Our slightly larger apricot tree is a flavourcot variety and can grow to around 4m in height. You can keep this tree in a pot for its lifetime and it would make a wonderful addition to the decking or patio.
