A traditional treasure
The Damson fruit is as traditional as Morris Dancers in England. The Merryweather Damson tree makes an unusual gift. The tree will produce a heavy crop of Damsons that are perfect for making jam or fillings for pies with.
The Merryweather Damson is a traditional English fruit that is perfect for cooking with.
It is larger than other varieties and is a lot easier to work with. The blue-black skinned fruit packs an acidic punch in its juicy yellow flesh, and is not too good to eat raw.
Once cooked it makes the best jams and jellies and is also a very popular filling for pies and crumbles.
A reliable tree that produces small white flowers in early April and a good heavy crop of fruit, ready for picking in late August/September.
Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open/exposed sites or central/northern locations.
