Tree2mydoor Press Coverage in The Oldham Chronicle

A tree-mendous effort

OLDHAMERS wanting a Christmas tree without the hassle of filling the car full of pine needles can use a new Internet service. Gareth Mitchell (24), from Copster Hill, is gearing up to provide the perfect festive solution to the age-old problem of transport. - The Belfast-born entrepreneur has created an online Christmas tree shop. People can order a quality tree and have it delivered to their home simply by visiting www.tree2mydoor.com

Customers can log on, order a tree and consult a tree decoration service in a matter of minutes. They can even have their redundant tree collected in the New Year to be recycled. And it doesn’t stop there. For every Christmas tree sold £1 will be donated to St Ann’s Hospice, Cheadle, which provides care and support for people with life threatening illnesses and their families across Greater Manchester.

“We are very grateful for the support because every donation goes towards helping improve the quality of life of our patients, said hospice chief executive Terry McDonnell. “It is a fantastic example of a local company supporting a local charity to help the local community.

” Tree2mydoor is working alongside the Red Rose Forest - which is Greater Manchester’s community forest to make sure that everyone gets the Christmas recycling message. Gareth, who gave up working for Groundwork Oldham in Higginshaw to concentrate on the tree site, said: “It is important not to ignore the impact that Christmas has on the environment each year, with millions of tonnes of festive waste being added to landfill.

“I want to set a precedent with my company and encourage consumers to buy sustainable trees, and also to get them recycled after Christmas time.”
